Cherry Popped...

Lets lose our whorehouse virginity with some major whores. Scissor Sisters. I've adored them ever since 'I Can't Cum Quickly Enough' (Innuendo intended) appeared in 'Party Monster'. I bought the album and immediately fell in love with the sleaze they infected my speakers with. They were riddled!

They lost me with 'Ta-Dah', They were a few gems, Namely 'Kiss You Off', 'The Otherside' & Of course 'Making Ladies' but over all i found the whole experience a little too infected with the spirit of Dame Elton John, who will always be major musical turn off for me.

Somewhere amidst the whole 'Ta-Dah' era, I fell upon the collection of demos, Which are collectively known as 'The Demo Album', 'Filthy/Gorgeous' Or 'K-Mart Disco'. These collection of early tracks turned my head and gave me fresh hope for their future. Their sleaze is their selling point. 'Ta-Dah' felt like they had visited the sexual filth clinic and had their genitals thoroughly removed of all STD's. Without the crabs, they no longer felt 'Filthy Gorgeous', the lack of crabs seemed to leave them feeling bland and lethargic.

Earlier this year, when 'Invisible Light' leaked, I got major cheap thrills. It sounded like the sleaze infected band I fell for. The track still remains my highlight of 'Nightwork'. Sir Ian McKellen's verse takes me back to my childhood, totally reminding me of 'Jeff Wayne's - War Of The Worlds'. Except the aliens have been swapped for homos and the red weed replaced with seminal fluid.

Other standout 'Nightwork' tracks for me are 'Sex & Violence', 'Running Out' and 'Whole New Way'. The sleaze is back, on this album consisting of twelve songs all about shagging. Lush.

''Another castle crumbles, Another monkey falls. Just open up your joy + let the sailors climb the walls''. - Yes please!
